I had that dam bryopsis algae which was doing my head. Normally one or to Aiptasia or Majano nems in the tank they just come back and some I cant get to them AEFW which i thought was going to have all my SPS corals before Xmas but with two weeks of dipping in Reef Dip i ended up only loosing 3. I was really gutted at the time loosing my favourite purple hairy acro I read other horror storeys and only loosing 3 was not half as bad as it could have been, some of my SPS still bear the scars but are growing back
The old rock work I used to have in the tank I really liked the look of. The tank with two large columns each side of the tank and would have looked awesome with SPS stuck all over them. Unfortunately I was getting problems with nuisance algae which I figured out was probably a lot to do with all the dead spots under and behind the rocks so I took the lot out last year and started to rebuild (see pics "Last years rebuild;" below latter). The new layout was to give much more circulation around and behind the rock work. Straight away it become obvious it was hard to make it look good like this but the sacrifice was made I chose better performance over looks. Now the tanks working much better but there was a lot of mucking about last year . Lots of massive gaps and spaces over and around the rocks which you probably can see in some of the photos.
The tank has been running as a fish only system for about the past 4 years with a few corals. I decided to sell most of the big fish and start keeping mainly corals last year. Now I have the SPS bug!
Nearly all the corals were bought as frags or small maricultured corals and while some have doubled in size most still just look like small sticks but getting there. The tank really needs another 6 months I think to grow.
By now your our probably thinking, pics shut up we just want to look at the pics, so here's a few close ups;
Thanks Chris @Bluzoo for this frag
Daylight and just 2 T5's
All of the pictures on this web page were taken with a Samsumg D900i camera phone (I really need a descent camera, if anyone could lend me a nice SLR that would be nice ).
Thanks to. Lisa form the now gone Riversdale Fish Farm. My daft Dad for getting me into this whole fish thing! All other shop owners I have bugged for info plus the many new people I have met through this hobby on and off the net.
Here's some older pictures I have found of the tank from the last 5 years;
Finally the end. The end of the tank and the last pic and one of my favs
I hoped you enjoyed the read and all the pictures. Please feel free to ask any questions by posting directly in this thread,
Kind regards,
Timo
